Mahsa is a PhD student in Ocean Engineering at the Civil Engineering Department.
She is studying the effect of soil material on the erosion of the bluff to better predict the erosion rate. Outside the lab, she enjoys swimming, running, and hanging out with friends.
Gabby is a PhD Candidate in the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology program with an interest in Neuroscience. She is studying how subtle genetic changes can lead to Epilepsy in children. Outside of lab she enjoys attending the GWiSE book club!
Delafrouz is a Master’s student in Computer Science. She works on parallel programming models, with a focus on OpenSHMEM library, in Exascallab group. She’s interested in problem solving, traveling, and women’s rights activities.
Jiabei is a PhD student in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology. She is studying cancer stem cells, chemoresistance, and tumor microenvironment of triple negative breast cancer.
Her lab’s research was recently shared in Newsday – Stony Brook team has breakthrough in ‘triple-negative’ breast cancer research. Outside of the lab, she enjoys running, hiking, reading, and searching for delicious food.
Alyssa is a PhD student in Ecology and Evolution and Vice President of GWiSE. Her research interests include marine invertebrate zoology as well as adaptation and phenotypic plasticity in response to global change. In the future, Alyssa would like to work at a NOAA laboratory but she is keeping her options open and wants to take on interesting opportunities as they come up.
